Microblading is the technique of cosmetic tattooing also known as micro-pigmentation, where pigment is inserted into the skin to resemble makeup.

It is typically achieved using a manual handheld tool to create a permanent enhancement on the eyebrows. It is done by inserting super fine hairstrokes into the skin.

What makes microblading unique is the handheld tool used which has tiny microneedles, allowing us to create hyper-realistic and very fine eyebrow hair-like strokes, intricately placed into the skin to mimic real hairs. The shape is measured and determined using ratio callipers.

Microblading technique is usually done to enhance what brows you already have making the eyebrows look as natural as possible. Being our most subtle permanent brow treatment we recommend the microblading technique as a solution to slightly over plucked brows, naturally thin or fine brow hairs, brows with gaps or small missing areas that need to be enhanced. Microblading is best used to enhance the look of brows that are already there.

Microblading is not meant to last forever and will require touch-ups. It is subject to fading due sun exposure, exfoliation and skincare products. Skin type can also accelerate the fading process such as oily skin, as the oils in your skin can cause the pigments to blur and loosen up while healing.

The Look

The Process
Following a consultation with Kathy, the ideal shape for your face is meticulously measured and mapped onto your skin with a pencil. Colour is carefully selected with your input, to complement your natural hair and skin tone. Pigment is inserted using a small handheld tool with tiny micro-needles to create hyper-realistic, fine eyebrow hair-like strokes, intricately placed to mimic real hairs.

What to Expect
Microblading is completed over 2 x 1-2 hour appointments booked 4-8 weeks apart. We make every effort to ensure that each client feels calm and comfortable throughout, and use numbing cream during the procedure. Sensitivity levels vary between clients and can be affected by certain skin conditions and the menstrual cycle.

Post-treatment, you may experience redness and a little sensitivity in the first 24hrs, the pigment will look deeper in colour until the hair strokes heal and dry slightly scabbing off on day 5-7. Colour will then fade and return once the skin heals fully in week 4. A touch-up treatment in week 4-8 will address any areas requiring further definition to reveal the final effect.

Microblading lasts 2-3 years with a gradual fade and can be topped up after 18 months.
